Helix Secondary Parents/Guardians - The Helix Electronics Committee is working on a proposal to revise the current cell phone/electronics rule in the Middle and High Schools. This change is coming as many districts around the nation are moving to more restrictive cell phone use policies. While cell phones can be helpful in many ways, they also are a big distraction for students in a learning environment, as well as present various additional challenges. We are asking parents and students to fill out a short survey regarding this change. The survey is anonymous. We appreciate your honest thoughts and concerns. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScUVZK-qCwB8WzT07rXoNg1poGMfl8pLAlVH1PlK-_GP4eGgw/viewform?usp=sf_link Thank you for your time!

This past weekend, the Griswold High School Band took part in the Worldstrides Heritage Festival in Seattle, WA. The band participated in a workshop with DMA candidate David Stewart at the University of Washington Friday morning to help prepare them for their performance Saturday morning. Our students then got to visit MoPOP (The Museum of Pop Culture) and experience a variety of different interactive exhibits highlighting the past, present, and future of pop culture. Saturday morning our students competed against several other high school and middle school bands from Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia. The performance was followed by a clinic from Jim Rice, a music education professor from Western Washington University as well as the former President for the Washington Music Educators Association. The day was capped off with an award ceremony hosted at the Seattle Museum of Flight where Griswold High School took home 2nd place and received a silver rating for their performance. Way to Go Grizzlies!

A special thank you to all our parent and community sponsors! The Carnival raised about $1500 for our middle school ASB account. Thank you so much for making the Helix School District such a wonderful place!
