Helix Parents - The Helix School District will make face masks optional for all students and staff starting Monday, March 14th. The District will continue to provide disposable face masks for students, staff, and volunteers who wish to continue wearing a mask. Please call the school if you have any questions or concerns. Congratulations to our Kinder - 6th grade students who raised over $2,500 for Helix School District in our annual Kids Heart Challenge! Helix Elementary celebrated HONESTY today during our Purposeful People awards assembly! We have some super honest Grizzlies and we could not be more proud! Several students were recognized for their outstanding effort practicing honesty this month. Way to go! Students also tested their balancing skills during a "dicey" minute to win it challenge. Thank you to our middle school student council students for being our pep squad today, and setting a great example for our younger students. The character trait for March is COOPERATION. Parents, be on the lookout for letters coming home with fun ways to practice cooperation as a family!

Helix School Parents – The Helix School District will be delaying sending the survey out to gather information from students, staff, and parents about indoor mask wearing. More information is expected from the ODE and OHA in the next week or two. I'll keep you posted once the new information is released. Thank You!

This afternoon the Helix School staff and students cheered as the Griswold High School Grizzly boys and girls basketball teams departed for their play-in games against Imbler and Elgin. Go Grizzlies!

This Thursday Griswold High School is going on its annual all-school ski trip. All high school students are eligible and are encouraged to participate. Here is the itinerary for Thursday, February 17th: 6:15 - AM Students must be at the school and ready. 6:30 AM Bus Departure for Anthony 8:30 AM Arrival at Anthony 8:45 AM Check-in, get passes, and equipment. Ski until lunch at 12:00 PM. (students can either bring lunch or bring money to buy lunch) 4:00 PM Bus Departure for Helix 6:00 PM Arrival at Helix

Parents, Immunization Exclusion Day is this Wednesday, February 16th, 2022. Your student(s) should be up to date with any of their required vaccinations to remain in school by February 16th. The Helix School Board Meeting this evening will be rescheduled for next Wednesday, February 16th at 6 p.m. Due to personal situations the Board was unable to have a quorum.

The middle school student council is excited to be planning a Valentine's day dance for Helix 6-8th grade students only, Friday, February 11th! It will be held in the multipurpose room from 7pm-10pm. Parents, please do not drop students off earlier than 7pm. Students are encouraged to bring a treat or snack food to share, but it is not required. The entrance fee for the dance is $2.00. This will help to replenish the middle school fund, which has taken a hit due to fund raising activities being restricted for the past couple years. Thank you for your support! The high school FBLA trip is canceled today, 2/3/2021 due to inclement weather on 84. High school students should arrive at school this morning at their regularly scheduled time.

Helix Elementary celebrated RESPONSIBILITY last week during our Purposeful People awards assembly. Students boogied to the cha cha slide and tested their coordination skills with a fun balloon minute-to-win-it challenge. We also recognized 12 students for their exceptionally responsible behavior this month. Shout out to Mrs. Curtiss and the 5th grade class for leading our assembly and bringing the fun!! Advantage Dental will be at Helix School on 2/09/22. This service is FREE to all students. Please fill out the necessary document that was sent home with your student yesterday or at the front office. If you wish for your student NOT to participate in the dental screening, fill out the form marking in the NO column. Thank you!

The Helix Middle School basketball games are canceled today, 1/18 due to road closures and inclement weather on I-84 between Pendleton and La Grande. There is no news yet on when and if the games will be rescheduled.

COVID-19 Update – 1/12/2022 Today we confirmed that we have student athletes that recently tested positive for COVID-19. To ensure the safety of our community, students, and staff the Helix home basketball games scheduled for this evening January 12th against Nixyaawii and our weekend games will be postponed. Once the games have been rescheduled our coaches will notify the players and we will update the community. Please stay safe! Brad Bixler, Helix Superintendent

Due to road conditions and the anticipated weather forecast, Helix Schools will be closed, Wednesday, 1/5. Again, this closure will also include athletic events and practices. Please be safe if you need to travel!
