
Helix Parents/Guardians - Helix School District has a large number of students that out due to illness. Some parents have reported their children are testing positive for the Influenza A virus. This virus is contagious and spreads easily from person-to-person. Out of an caution, the Helix School District will do additional cleaning of classrooms and hard surface areas this week. Please keep students at home that are not feeling well. Students are welcome back at school when they are symptom free. Thank you!

Helix Parents/Guardians - Due to weather, our middle school students will be returning early today from the track meet in Umatilla. Students will leave Umatilla at 2:30 p.m. today. Yesterday was an exciting day for our little Grizzlies! We had a special guest help us celebrate at our Purposeful People awards assembly!
Students cheered on their classmates as they competed in a penny stacking, minute-to-win-it challenge. We also got to recognize many of our students for their outstanding work practicing COOPERATION this month! Way to go Grizzlies!
For April, we will be talking about CREATIVITY – Using your imagination to create something or solve a problem. Parents, be on the lookout for letters coming home, that include ways you can practice being creative as a family!


Students from the Helix School District raised money for the American Heart Association. The ones who raised the most from each class earned the right to spray me with Silly String!! Great job Grizzlies!!


Helix Parents - The Helix School District will make face masks optional for all students and staff starting Monday, March 14th. The District will continue to provide disposable face masks for students, staff, and volunteers who wish to continue wearing a mask. Please call the school if you have any questions or concerns. Helix Elementary celebrated HONESTY today during our Purposeful People awards assembly! We have some super honest Grizzlies and we could not be more proud! Several students were recognized for their outstanding effort practicing honesty this month. Way to go!
Students also tested their balancing skills during a "dicey" minute to win it challenge.
Thank you to our middle school student council students for being our pep squad today, and setting a great example for our younger students.

Helix School Parents – The Helix School District will be delaying sending the survey out to gather information from students, staff, and parents about indoor mask wearing. This afternoon the Helix School staff and students cheered as the Griswold High School Grizzly boys and girls basketball teams departed for their play-in games against Imbler and Elgin. Go Grizzlies!

This Thursday Griswold High School is going on its annual all-school ski trip. All high school students are eligible and are encouraged to participate.
Here is the itinerary for Thursday, February 17th:
6:15 - AM Students must be at the school and ready.
6:30 AM Bus Departure for Anthony
8:30 AM Arrival at Anthony
8:45 AM Check-in, get passes, and equipment.
Ski until lunch at 12:00 PM.
(students can either bring lunch or bring money to buy lunch)
4:00 PM Bus Departure for Helix
6:00 PM Arrival at Helix

Immunization Exclusion Day is this Wednesday, February 16th, 2022. Your student(s) should be up to date with any of their required vaccinations to remain in school by February 16th.

The Helix School Board Meeting this evening will be rescheduled for next Wednesday, February 16th at 6 p.m. Due to personal situations the Board was unable to have a quorum.

The middle school student council is excited to be planning a Valentine's day dance for Helix 6-8th grade students only, Friday, February 11th! It will be held in the multipurpose room from 7pm-10pm. Parents, please do not drop students off earlier than 7pm. Students are encouraged to bring a treat or snack food to share, but it is not required. The entrance fee for the dance is $2.00. This will help to replenish the middle school fund, which has taken a hit due to fund raising activities being restricted for the past couple years. Thank you for your support!

The high school FBLA trip is canceled today, 2/3/2021 due to inclement weather on 84. High school students should arrive at school this morning at their regularly scheduled time.

Helix Elementary celebrated RESPONSIBILITY last week during our Purposeful People awards assembly. Students boogied to the cha cha slide and tested their coordination skills with a fun balloon minute-to-win-it challenge. We also recognized 12 students for their exceptionally responsible behavior this month.
Shout out to Mrs. Curtiss and the 5th grade class for leading our assembly and bringing the fun!!
