Helix School District Parents and Community Members:

Many students, staff, and families are looking forward to the end of Oregon’s statewide indoor mask mandate OAR 333-019-1015 which is set to turn off on March 11th at 11:59 p.m. On Saturday, March 12th, all schools in Oregon will be granted local control to make mask wearing optional for all students, staff, and volunteers. The Helix School District will make face masks optional for all students and staff starting Monday, March 14th. The District will continue to provide disposable face masks for students, staff, and volunteers who wish to continue wearing a mask. The COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Teachers and School Staff, OAR -019-1030, is still in place and is expected to stay through the end of this school year. The Helix School District will comply with the vaccination requirements, and the District will highly recommend that unvaccinated staff and volunteers keep 6 ft. of distance from others whenever possible, increase frequency of checking for symptoms, and increase frequency of hand washing. The District will not require unvaccinated individuals to wear a face mask starting Monday, March 14th.
